My life at 24 was work all week, bars and beer on Friday and Saturday, broke on Sunday. I had no car, no savings. My life was going downhill fast. I was a smoker. One Sunday in August I was out of cigarettes and walked 8 blocks to buy more. Just before I reached the door, something stopped me and told me to check my pockets. I didn’t have even a quarter.
I was hung-over, embarrassed, and felt alone. I knew something had to change. I knew about God and that He could help. Standing in front of that drug store, I promised God if He would help me get my life turned around, I would begin attending church. I began attending church the next Sunday. During a revival at the evening service, Jan. 16, 1955, I felt an urgent need for Salvation. I could hardly wait for the invitation so I could go forward and accept Christ as my Savior.
While attending that church, I met the love of my life. We married and God has blessed us with a wonderful family. God has given me health and employment opportunity. I’m blessed with His presence in my life and I know I’ll spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
