I made a new friend the other day. His name is Rod. We were both on a flight and were seated next to each other. Rod is recently retired but a very busy man. After Rod and I talked for a while. I asked, "Rod, what's the most important thing that has ever happened to you?" He said there were lots of things but right then, on his mind were his three grandsons. They are triplets, not identical but when he let me see a picture of them, there was no missing the fact that they were all brothers and Rod was the proud grandpa.
The longer we visited, the more I felt I just really liked this guy. He is one of those "real" people. He fit the slogan "what you see is what you get." Rod shared a concern in his life. I thought that bold since I was a stranger to him. I promised I'd pray for him. There were other important things on his heart that he wouldn't tell just anyone, but he told me. I hope it was because he knew I reall would pray for him. We've emailed since then.
