Growing up in a rural community with the nearest neighbor about a mile away, weekly church attendance was a natural part of my family life. In such a setting there were fewer distractions than are experienced by young people today. One afternoon, at the age of 10, I was visited by the pastor of our church. The visit was for the purpose of discussing my spiritual life and where I would spend eternity. I made no decision regarding his inquiry during the visit.
During the week that followed, thoughts returned to his caring visit. During the church worship service the following Sunday night, I realized my rebellious nature and my deep need for Christ. At that time, I asked forgiveness and for Jesus to become part of my life.
At the young age of 10, I was delivered from the bondage of my sins and received a new beginning for my life, a decision I have never regretted. In a contemporary term, my life was given an extreme makeover.
