The Bible is not like any other document you have ever read—it is more than a source of information about God and spiritual things. It is actually intended to be the resource that can guide you in all of life. It’s true, the Bible can help a person know, grow and worship God. But you have to read it!
Experience God Reading the Bible.
The Bible tells a story, the greatest story, of God taking the initiative to show his love by dying on a cross for people. Perhaps you have seen the bible verse John 3:16 on display at football games or on TV. Have you read the verse?
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
This popular verse says that God loved you so much that he gave his One and only unique son. Actually this verse summarizes the main message of the Bible. It is especially made clearer in the New Testament of the Bible where Jesus Christ is revealed as the hope for all humanity. This means you!
The Bible also provides guidance for those who are in a relationship with Him. Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” This means that the Bible, God’s Word, is a roadmap to life.
It provides guidance, direction and assistance in the everyday things of life. Hebrews 4:12 says that God’s Word is “living and active.” How can a book be alive? It means that the Bible speaks to every situation of life and that God has not left us alone to try to decipher His will. His will is in the pages of the Bible and we can draw from it principles that help us live a full exciting life.
God speaks to his people through the words of the Bible. As people read it they are not just reading ordinary words but words that come from God. It is from God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” God-breathed is a phrase that is rich in meaning. It literally means, “Breathed out from God.”
This means that the Bible is inspired which just means it is from God. Because the Bible comes from God it is a unique book and different from all other religious writings because in it’s foremost purpose it reveals God and his ways, thoughts and love. The Bible can unquestionably become the epitome of guidance and understanding in everyday life for people.
