JoAnne Lightfield

My parents took me to church when I was 5 years old until I was 9 years old. Then they stopped going. I remember how I enjoyed Sunday School and kept all the leaflets we were given with pictures of Jesus and a Bible story. Still, I didn’t understand that I was lost.
When I was 13 my best friend invited me to go to church with her family at a new church in Norge, OK. The minister was a young family man who was still in college. I listened to his sermons for over a year before I realized I was a sinner and lost. I accepted Christ and was baptized at Michigan Ave. Baptist Church on Easter Sunday (as our little church had no baptistry). My best friend was baptized on the same day.

Christ has been with me every day since then. He is my strength and my support through tough times and through the loss of loved ones. He led me to a Christian man to be my husband and our three children accepted Christ at a young age. I have backslidden at times and Christ has always forgiven me and brought me back to serving Him. I am so thankful for all He has done in my life.

There’s more to life than breathing and feeling – Real life is only found in Jesus Christ.
