My life was just that…mine. I had grown tired of living up to others expectations of me and falling short of their expectations through high school and college. I was ready to give up and just live the way I wanted to live. But I knew there was more to life than just doing what I wanted to do. I had tried to meet the expectations of what I thought was most important and had failed.
Then I realized what the most important thing in life is. It wasn’t meeting expectations of others or living for myself alone. I realized I could never meet the expectations of everyone I knew, not to mention the One that matters most. I finally realized the most important thing in life. I gave my life to Jesus and have served him ever since.
I am still not perfect. I mess up from time to time, but now that I know the most important thing in life, I have a peace and an assurance that never would have been possible on my own. My life is no longer my own.
