I was a young child when I first came to understand that I was steeped in sin. I overheard my older brother talking to my parents about sin and separation from God. I believed I was a good girl, but hearing Mother explain to Jimmy that he was separated from God until he turned his whole life over to Him, made me realize that I, too, was a sinner. I was anxious through the night, considering how this great Lord Jesus cared enough for me to pay for my sins through an excruciating death.
The next day, Jimmy walked the church aisle to make a public profession of his change-he was turning his life over to Jesus. I walked the aisle that same day to tell the world that I wanted Jesus to live in my heart. I remember saying to Mother and the church pastor, “I want Jesus, too.” I prayed and asked Jesus Christ to be my Savior and Lord. My brother and I were baptized before the church to testify of our love and commitment for our Savior who committed His love for us before we ever knew Him.
Since my commitment to the Lord, Jesus Christ has been the most important thing in my life. I won’t tell you that I’ve been completely faithful every moment, but I will tell you that He has never forsaken me. Without Him, I could do nothing. I am nothing. But with Jesus Christ as my Savior and His Spirit in my heart, I have a purpose-filled life. I invite you to meet and learn to know my Lord and Savior.
