I grew up in church. I am a deacon’s daughter and my great uncle was my pastor up until about 8 months ago. Although I grew up in church I wasn’t saved until I was 12 on July 2, 2009. After I got saved I was on a mission to spread God’s Word. However, as Romans 3:23 states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” I may have used my mouth to spread His Word but I fell short of exemplifying this in my life as a young Christian in many of my ways.
Even as a Christian who grew up in church all my life, I have sinned, and I will continue to sin because I am human. Romans 3:23 is one of my favorite verses for this reason. When I got to college I joined a group called Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM). Upon joining this group, my walk with Christ became much different. My church had never had many people around my age. The topics discussed in BCM were different than what I had known and were approached differently.
Additionally, I had fellowship around me with my peers in a way I had never experienced before. My relationship with Christ became more personal. Others helped me in my walk with Christ just from watching their example. I am happy to say that I am highly active in this organization and my home church at this time. Both have been instrumental in helping my walk with Christ. I am blessed to be surrounded by people who love me, and support my walk with Christ first and foremost. It isn’t an easy world to live in being a Christian and living for Christ but it is worth it (Matthew 7:13-14, Matthew 8:18-22, Romans 8:18, Philippians 3:20). The joys of heaven far surpass what the earth can offer (Matthew 6:19-20). So, even though I am human and I will always fall victim to sin, Jesus died on the cross for me, you, and everyone (2nd Corinthians 5:14-15). He made the way for us to go to heaven if we just accept Him (John 3:16). I will do all I can to live my life for the Lord and spread His Word (Colossians 3:24).
