Growing up as a “pipeline” brat equiped me for two things – to be self-reliant and insecure. We were never in one place long enough to make friends and never knew when or where we would be moving next. I learned to rely on my family.
But family was not enough. At the age of 12, I knew I needed Jesus as my Savior. I was baptized and for 32 years lived what would be considered a good life even though I did not attend church. I didn’t need to. I was a good person. Then 11 years ago, I learned what it meant to make Jesus not only my Savior but also my Lord. I was no longer insecure and self-reliant. I began to live Proverbs 3:5-6.
Since that day in August when I made Jesus my Lord, I have experienced a whole new way to live! Each day I am grateful for the Peace, the Love, the Joy, and the Freedom that I have in Jesus. The challenges that face me now are already victories through Christ. I know that He sustains and strengthens and guides me. And, I realize that the most important thing is knowing where I will spend eternity – at the feet of Jesus!
