I grew up in a Christian family. Along with my parents, my grandparents and most of my aunts and uncles were Christians too. Each Sunday I attended church with my family. I grew up knowing that I was a sinner and that I needed God’s forgiveness in order to have a relationship with Him. I knew that just because my parents and other relatives were Christians, that did not automatically make me one, too. Gradually God moved in my heart and showed me just how much I needed a Savior.
I don’t remember the exact date I asked Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sins and to come into my heart, but I do remember praying in my room. It wasn’t until my family and I began attending our current church that I truly showed the fruit of being a Christian. As God moved in my heart through the teachings I received in church, and as I spent time with God each morning reading the Bible, I began to change.
As a child, I was very stubborn and often rebellious to my parents. God began to help me honor my parents and to stop sinning against them in those ways. I am still a sinner. I disobey God and sometimes I follow my own way, but the God’s Holy Spirit now lives inside of me to convict me of my sin and urge me to repent. I try to be holy and live my life for the glory of God. I have joy because Christ is in me. One day I will live with Him forever!
