I was blessed by having Christian parents that taught me about Jesus and took me to church. Everything we did was centered around serving the Lord. I learned as a young child that all of us are sinners. I would need to make the decision whether I was going to walk with the Lord and let Him control my life or walk in the ways of the world.
When I was eight years old a good friend of mine was put in an iron lung because of polio. We did not know if he would live or die. It really made an impression on me. I told my dad I wanted to know how to have Jesus in my heart and life. He showed me in the Bible what I needed to do to have Jesus in my life forever. That day I came to have a relationship with the Lord. That was the most important decision I have ever made.
I tried many years to serve Him in my own strength. As I studied the Bible and grew in the Lord I realized it was not what I could do but what God wanted to do in me. I had to learn to deny myself and follow Him. It has not always been easy and I have not always walked as close to the Lord as I should. Even though I may not always please Him, He still loves me. My greatest joy is sharing with others how much God loves them.
