I grew up going to church part time, basically when my parents felt like it. Through high school I was going to Sunday night classes, but only to be with the girl I was dating. After high school I got into drinking quite regularly. I was at the bar 3 to 4 times a week. I joined the Marines in 01 and then was sent to Iraq in 03. I spent a year there just after marrying the love of my life. I went through a very troubling time and I never understood why I was still here.
We moved to NC from MI in 06. My wife found a job first. A coworker invited us to church we finally gave in. On our first visit we loved it, and almost immediately we were at church almost as much as we were at home. We found our second family. We got involved in a SS class that taught us about Jesus and what he did for us. There was a WF Police Officer in the class that I connected with. With his insight and life lessons I understood without a doubt about Jesus.
My wife and I spoke with our pastor and we accepted Jesus in 2008. Knowing that God sent His only son to give His precious life for all of us, words just can not explain how wonderful that is. Life is so much better now. Before I was trying to do everything myself and I did not realize that if it is God’s will, it will happen when he wants’ it not on my time. My wife and I have a much better relationship with God involved.
