Sharon Winchell

My introduction to the Lord started as a child in Sunday school in a Baptist church in Texas. My parents were Christians but were not regular in church attendance themselves. They did take my brothers and me to Sunday school. They did start going to church and that helped me to see the importance of being an active Christian. My Sunday School teacher was very good at explaining to 10-11 year olds the place God should have in their lives.

After a Wednesday prayer service, she saw me crying and asked if I wanted to ask Jesus into my heart. I talked with the pastor, my parents and my teacher and told them that I did want to accept Jesus as my Savior and be baptized. I continued to attend Sunday school and church with my family. I loved the Bible drills we had to learn scripture and the lessons to learn more about Jesus’ love for me. I was always involved in church and all of the activities for children and youth.

After I married I was not faithful until my children reached the ages where I knew I wanted them to have the same foundation in faith I had. I have been a Christian most of my life, but I know there is still a long way to go before I become the Christian I need and want to be. I worship each week at Muldoon Road Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska.

There’s more to life than breathing and feeling – Real life is only found in Jesus Christ.
