I was raised in church and went through all the motions. My parents taught me the Bible. However, I was a shy kid and “got saved” as a way to fit in. I believed in Jesus and tried to do the right things. As I grew into young adulthood, I became disillusioned with church. Still, I “checked the boxes” and did what the church told me to. I was sincerely trying to do the right thing, but my life was still very empty. I didn’t have a real relationship with Him.
In my adulthood, I have come to know Jesus on a personal, very real level. Within the last few years, He has made Himself very real to me through His love and total acceptance. When I was at rock bottom in depression, He loved me and showed me who He really is: the loving Son of God. I have heard it said that when we get to the end of ourselves, we get to the beginning of Christ. He is very real to me!!
I now can approach each day knowing that He is with me. I do not have to tackle life on my own. He loves me, He forgives me, and He walks with me minute by minute. In a word, He gives me hope! Life still has bumps, but He walks over them with me. I live free and enjoy life.
