Tammy Satterthwaite

Like so many people, I was privileged to be born into a Christian home with strong Christian parents, who made sure that I was in church on Sundays and Wednesdays. We were also very involved in mission-minded activities outside of church as a family. At the very young age of six years old, I realized that my faith in Jesus Christ could not come from my family’s involvement in church, but had to come from a relationship to Him that was just between Him and me. I asked my parents how I could ask Christ into my life.
They explained it to me, but gave me the freedom to decide when I would make that a public decision. We were visiting a church while on summer vacation, when the congregation was singing “Time after Time He has waited before and now He is waiting again. To see if you’re willing to open the door, Why don’t you let Him come in.” In my mind, I could see that door and I wanted to let Him into my life.

At that moment, Jesus became very real in my life. He was an old friend, but a new friend as well. He was my comfort through difficult times and challenges throughout my life. When I made mistakes and wandered away from Him, I knew He was always there to welcome me back. Now, I don’t want to wander. It is not worth it. He blesses me every day. I cannot imagine my life without Him in it.

There’s more to life than breathing and feeling – Real life is only found in Jesus Christ.
