Thank God if you have good family

If you have a good family, you have a lot to be thankful for. Not everyone can say that these days. A few of us, unfortunately, would even have to say our families did us more harm than good. So you've got to be grateful that God placed you in a good family.

But could a good family fail you? Could you fail them? What if you had a falling out with your brother? What if you completely failed to live up to your father's expectations?

We're only human. We do fail each other. Sometimes, it's so bad that we turn our backs on someone we love.

Want a father who will love you no matter how miserably you fail? What about a brother who understands exactly what you are going through because he has been there himself?

There is a friend "who sticks closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:23). In Jesus, we have a brother who can sympathize with our weaknesses because he has faced all the same temptations. And what's better than a brother who has experienced the same struggles? How about one who won all those battles and can tell you how to win them yourself? Wouldn't it be great to know someone was always there to give you the help you need right when you need it most? (Hebrews 4:15)

God surely blessed you when He placed you in a good family. There's a wonderful sense of security and belonging in those loving relationships. Don't forget to thank God for that. And don't forget to thank your family for the blessing they have been to you.

But remember: They are only human. There's bound to be a time when they will fail you or you will fail them. It's certain there will be a time when they aren't there to help you -- or they are there but there isn't anything they can do to help.

That's when you need Jesus -- someone closer than a brother who not only understands your struggle but can help with anything you face.
