Tom Greenfield

I grew up in a large family and the youngest of six children. When I was 7 years old I went to the pastor, answered all “the questions”, and was baptized. My reason? So I could drink the grape juice and eat the crackers during the Lord’s Supper. While I experienced some very dark, rebellious teenage years, even so I believed I was a Christian because “I was baptized when I was 7 years old.”
As a college freshman, I found myself alone. For the first time, I was away from friends and family. In my dorm room one night, weeping, afraid and extremely alone, I cried to God, “Lord, help me.” The tears immediately stopped and I truly experienced a tremendous peace. The Bible says “Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I was saved that night. I realized that my childhood experience was not real. If I had died I would have spent eternity in hell.

“Since I have allowed Jesus into my life, I’ve experienced His peace and presence every day.”

Since I have allowed Jesus into my life, I’ve experienced His peace and presence every day. He’s never left me…never forsaken me. The acceptance and peace I was searching for with my friends I found in Jesus. Difficult times have come and will come. But, through them all, He has always been there. The help I asked Him for that night in my dorm room has been life-long help.

There’s more to life than breathing and feeling – Real life is only found in Jesus Christ.
