While sitting with my mother in a small community church, God spoke to my heart just a couple of Sundays before I reached the age of 7. I told my mother that I needed Jesus to save me. When directed to the pastor by my mother for consultation, I became fearful for what followed my decision for Christ…. baptism. I told God, No! I was so upset for being a coward that I cried all day, desiring a second chance for that relationship that I longed for.
Sometime that same day, I asked Jesus Christ in my heart. Two weeks later, my Savior and friend was with me as I entered the water to be baptized. I was first in line to complete my commitment to Christ. For some reason I was determined to make it up to my Lord and I begged to wear my dry clean only suit into the baptismal waters. The suit was ruined but my life was changed for eternity.
The best part of my relationship with Jesus Christ is the friendship He has given me through the many trials of my life. I feel the presence of God through His Holy Spirit wherever I go. My treasured relationship with Jesus Christ has been even more special as He has called me into service as a youth worker, pastor and now a church planter.
